NICO Group says the qualification of the Malawi National Netball Team, the Queens, for the World Cup is a major milestone for the sport in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

NICO\u2019s Head of Marketing and Customer Experience, Taweni Gondwe-Xaba, said they are committed to supporting the team so that they perform well at the World Cup in Sydney, Australia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Xaba made the remarks on Monday, 28 September 2026, in Lilongwe when welcoming the team back from Nairobi, Kenya, after finishing third at the Africa Netball Cup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I want to thank the Malawi Queens players for the remarkable job they did by finishing third and winning a bronze medal. This means the financial support we have been giving is working.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We are committed to helping the team return to where they belong, number one in Africa and number five in the world. Looking at the talent of both young and experienced players that the team has, we believe our goal of making the team one of the best in the world will be achieved,” said Xaba<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Team Captain, Takondwa Lwazi, thanked NICO Group for its great work in making the team stronger by providing financial support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I want to thank NICO Group for the wonderful job they are doing. We will keep working hard to make our sponsors and the country proud.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Another request goes to the government to consider us regarding transport and renovating the Griffin Sayenda Sports Complex. When we go abroad, we use modern courts, which is sometimes hard for us because we are not used to them. Fixing this court will help us a lot,” said Lwazi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture, Jameson Ndalama, and Netball Association of Malawi (NAM) Vice Treasurer, Anastazia Kamphale, thanked the company for its continued support towards strengthening the team as it prepares for the World Cup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kamphale then disclosed that the team is scheduled to start a training camp soon so that the new and old players can gel well ahead of the upcoming international friendly matches and the World Cup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
